I too remember!!!
I remember, playing touch football, with HOWARD and the boys, after school, at southside, elem., school, in sheffield. I went, to the fruit, box grocery, the day the word came and went, by his house and saw, all the cars, his dad was, outside walking around, I couldn't stop, so I went on up, the road, That was the day, I decided, to join the Marines. I think, of Howard alot, even in NAM, I knew why, I was there!! 'SEMPER FIDELIS!' howard

“You are Remembered”
Peace and condolence, to the family and friends. “He which hath no stomach, to this fight, let him depart. But we in it, shall be remembered. We few, we happy few, we band of brothers!! For he today, that sheds his blood with me, shall always be my brother.” Rest in peace brave soldier, you have not been forgotten. (W.Shakespeare) May God Bless you, for your Sacrifice!!!

I thank you, for serving our country. You did, what was right. It is just sad, that you had, to be among the ones, who died. I pray, that you, have found peace. You, are not forgotten.

Howard Brown Handley - One of a kind
Howard Brown Handley was a young man of honor and he served his country with a heart of love and compassion for others. He put his fellow Americans lifes before his own. Before going to VietNam he made the comment that he was going to Viet Nam so others who already had families would not have to go. I pray he has found peace and contentment with His God and His self. Even after thirty-three years I can still see his smile. God Bless.

I Still Remember, We, All Your Friends Still Remember
All of us, Howard's friends and classmates did not know what to think when we heard that he had lost his life in Nam. Steve, Earl, Joe, and I all remember 1968 and how we all felt when Howard was killed. All of us ended up in the service of our country that year and we all to this day think of Howard when there is any mention of Viet Nam. I am speaking for all of us when I say, "Thankyou Howard for all the memories".

Remembering the Shoals
An article is posted about Bill Presley and Harold Hovater that included Howard Brown Handley. Bill Presley and four other southwest Sheffield boys went to Vietnam; only one came home. There are follow up articles as well. https:rememberingtheshoals.wordpress.com20110513history-first-hand

A good friend and fellow Viet Nam vet
Howard was a friend of mine at Deshler. I served in Viet Nam in 1970 and 1971. When I visited the Wall in DC four years ago, I took all of my Nam clothes, hats , and my medals and found Howards name and left them at the Wall below his name. He deserves the tribute

NATIVE AMERICAN PRAYER
It is said a man hasn't died as long as he is remembered. This prayer is a way for families, friends and fellow veterans to remember our fallen brothers and sisters. Do not stand at my grave and weep I am not there, I do not sleep. I am a thousand winds that blow, I am the diamond glints on snow. I am the sunlight on ripened grain, I am the gentle autumn rain. When you awaken in the morning hush, I am the swift, uplifting rush of quiet birds in circled flight, I am the stars that shine at night. Do not stand at my grave and cry, I am not there, I did not die

 My baby brother Howard
Howard we miss you SO much. You are a sweet loving brother, always making everyone laugh. If it's God's will, I will see you in heaven with mom also. I'm sorry I didn't go to the airport with you, the day you went to Vietnam.I remember you and your friends, listening to the tapes that Charles sent home to me with war going on and that's when you said, "That's what I want to do." So, you did as you pleased to serve your country. We Love You Howard bye for now.

The Uncle I never knew
I was born in 1969; so I never knew Howard. But, from all of the things I have heard about him I know he was a loving and wonderful person. He is missed by those who knew him and by those who never did. I would have loved to have known such a brave man; I am honored to say that Howard Brown Handley is my uncle and a man that I am very proud of. I love you Howard!

Some History
Howard was the second youngest of nine children of George Haston and Flora B. Mauldin Handley. He had five older brothers and two older sisters and one younger sister, all of whom survive him. He has been greatly missed by all his family for the past 33 years. Howard volunteered for the Army and volunteered for service in Vietnam. He also volunteered for the mission which resulted in his death. From all we can find out he was a very good soldier, which is shown by his rapid rise in rank. We, his family, have told our children and now our grandchildren about their uncle Howard. Several of us have been able to visit the Wall in Washington, DC and shed tears there. Howard's parents were able to visit the wall a few years ago. His mother passed away in 1999 and is buried at her request beside Howard. We still love and miss him.

My Uncle
Howard was my uncle. I really never knew him because I was born on March 4, 1968. I wish I could have known him. I have heard that he was a great guy. I just wanted to leave a remembrance for him.
