Chain of Command Served as a Tank Platoon Leader in the 37th Tank Battalion, 4th Armored Division in Europe.
Other Memories 1SG Kennedy received a Battlefield Commission on March 4th, 1945. He then served as a Tank Platoon Leader in the by then famous 37th Tank Battalion, 4th Armored Division. The crossed the Rhine on March 24-25, 1945 and fought in near continuous combat until V-E Day, by which time the unit had crossed into Czechoslovakia. A few days earlier my Granduncle received a promotion to First Lieutenant. After serving on occupation duty for the next six months 1LT Kennedy returned home in November 1945 (for the first time in three years). He was released from Active Duty in December.
