An longtime family friend, LTC (Ret) Bill Meder, presented me with his father's ceremonial officer's saber at my battalion change of command. Bill was a silver-star recipient, combat wounded, special forces veteran of the Vietnam War. This father was Colonel Leland Grant Meder, U.S. Army Dental Corps, Retired.
