Last Known Activity:

Died due to Friendly Fire Rocket from a U.S. Army Gunship / Helicopter during hostile action in the Gia Dinh Province, U.S. Military Region 3 / III Corps, Republic of South Vietnam.  Hostile action took place near Xom Hoa Dong approximately 11 kilometers southwest of downtown Saigon.
 
Incident: The Gunship rocket fire went astray.  Source of information from DA2496, Military Casualty Report in Vietnam as the Result of Hostile Action, 3 June 1968, on record at the LBJ Library, Box 109. The Individual died from wounds received while on combat operation when hit by friendly helicopter rocket fire directed at a hostile force.

The Hambden, Ohio, Christian & Missionary Alliance Church, its members and other friends raised funds to build an air / landing strip in West Irian for the New Guinea Mission in an area called Mugwi. The air strip was to be named Bud's Strip in his memory
