Corporal Hill was a member of the Heavy Mortar Company, 32nd Infantry Regiment, 7th Infantry Division. He was listed as Missing in Action while fighting the enemy in North Korea on December 2, 1950. He was presumed dead on December 31, 1953. His remains were not recovered at the time. Between 1990 and 1994, North Korea returned to the United States 208 boxes of commingled human remains which contained the remains of at least 600 U.S. servicemen who fought during the war. Through the efforts of the Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency the remains of of Corporal Hill were identified on 12 October 2016. His name is permanently inscribed on the Courts of the Missing (Court 6) at the Honolulu Memorial.
