William John Allen was a 1965 graduate of Greenville High School in Greenville, Michigan. He was survived by his father, William G. Allen and his step father, Manus Brown and two sisters, Linda and Mary Ann, a step sister Delores and two brothers, Larry and Rick. He was preceded in death by his mother. He was a member of the 3-506th Infantry (Currahees) of the 101st Airborne Division (Screaming Eagles).

 Word was received Sunday by the family of Sgt. John (William) Allen, 22, from the Department of the Army, of his death in Vietnam. Sergeant Allen was a 1965 graduate of Greenville High School. Before entering the service, he was employed at Doehler-Jarvis Corp. of Grand Rapids. Sergeant Allen was the 10th Greenville - Belding - Montcalm County serviceman to lose his life in the Vietnam War.  He is survived by his father. (John's mother had died in December 4, 1968. John was killed in Vietnam on February 22, 1969.) He is also survived by a Step-father Manus Brown and two sisters: Linda and Mary Ann, one brother: Larry and a stepbrother, Rick and a stepsister, Delores. John served with the 3/506 Infantry (Currahees), part of the 101st Airborne.  Will always remember

You served next to me in the E Company area. You in mortars and I in LRRPs. I was about 100 feet away from you and Tim when the 4.2 mortar bunker was blown up by a sapper. I, along with two other LRRPs were with you early the next morning when the chaplin took you away. You are with me always. I will never forget. God bless you.
