Comments/Citation
CPL John Joseph Fitzgerald (ER 55004505) was posthumously prompted from PFC while Missing in Action.  He was actually captured on January 4, 1951 and died April 17, 1951 enroute to Suan Bean Camp as testified by two other POW's, Myers and Roadszewski.  He was born October 11, 1923 at Seven Mile Creek in Juneau, Wisconsin.  So, by his age, I believe he enlisted during the second world war sometime as early as 1941.  He was then probably discharged after the war and reenlisted again about 1948 as his service number is ER which is Enlisted Reserve.  However, I cannot find a record of any of his military exploits before this possible reenlistment.  There was a citation for his POW Medal which is included in his profile here.    His parents were James "John" E. Fitzgerald (1884-1952) and Julia Ann Fox (1895-1984).  His siblings are May Fitzgerald (9 years older), Leo Fitzgerald (5 years older) and Berniece (2 1/2 years younger).
