Last Known Activity
PFC Richard L. Roeske was born in 1931 in La Porte County, Indiana.  Service number: ER 15276922.  He is listed as his branch of service as Armored, however, elsewhere his branch is listed as Infantry and his MOS seems to verify that as it is 4745 Light Weapons Infantryman.  If he enlisted on Dec 14, 1948. After training his only assignment was the 25th Reconnassaince Company of the 25th Infantry Division.  In 1949 they were doing Occupation Duty in Osaka, Japan, and used as MPs.  From there they were sent to Korea and landed at Pusan.  He spent the next year in this Reconnaissance Company probably in and out of its M24 Chaffee Light Tanks.  He was killed in action on January 4, 1951.  The request for headstone indicated 2nd award Purple Heart.
