Before agreeing to accept the post of adjutant, I made LTC Medley agree to permit me to qualify a tank during annual gunnery qualifications at Rodriguez Range. A Company had a crew that had just lost its TC, so I was allowed to fill the slot. These photos show me with my crew of our M48A5. This variant of the venerable old M48 "Patton" tank had the same 105mm main gun found in the M50 series plus an Israeli Defense Force cupola that did away with the M85 .50 cal. machine gun and instead employed a Browning M2 .50 cal.
