While on six-month's TDY at Ft. Benning, I landed a part-time job as a disk jockey for WXLE-FM, a top-40 format station in nearby Phenix City, AL. My shift was from 10 p.m. 'til closing: 2 a.m., Monday -Friday and 6 a.m. to noon on Sundays. I had an FCC Third Class Broadcasting License with 9th Endorsement, which was required at the time to work unsupervised on the air.
