My platoon gave me a send-off party at the "Kegelbahn" (bowling alley) and presented me with an ARCOM for my 2 1/2 years of service in the battalion, and this plaque. Tough to leave such a great unit and experienced group of Soldiers, but at the time, I had an opportunity to move closer to home and I couldn't pass it up. I didn't get Seneca Army Depot (which had closed the year before), so I had to settle for Ft. Drum, NY. Looking back now, I wish I had stayed at Ft. Campbell, but I know why I didn't and the time I got to spend with family was definitely worth the suffering at Ft. Drum.
