MAJ Billy J. Cone, 25th ID PIO, affixes my first peacetime award--the Army Commendation Medal with oak leaf cluster, to my fatigue shirt. This picture was taken after the "TLN" again placed second in the army-authorized newspaper category of the annual Keith L. Ware Awards competition. Note that we have given up our Vietnam-era "jungle fatigues" and are wearing the standard fatigue uniform not-so-affectionately known as the "pickle suit." I'm also about 40 pounds lighter than I was in the group photo taken the previous year.
