1SG McKenna wrote on a military website, "Pretty simple story actually, I grew up a middle class kid in RI who joined the Army through DEP and after graduating high school I spent the summer at FT Benning and moved on to FT Drum as an Infantrymen. A couple years of that told me I didn't want to do it forever so I raised my hand and went to SFAS where I got walked all over NC and earned a ticket to SFQC. Graduated in 2003 and here I am!"
