Reflections on SP 4 Carter's US Army Service
 Reflections On My Service
rDRAFTED NOT ENLISTED Didn't re-up after I saw what happened to Darryl (RATT) war didn't make any since. To this day I still think about it and all the lives taken. Many friends lost or still suffering, cant get it out of their minds.Basic was worse seemed like you were treated like dirt not a man. Best was Germany and seeing most of Europe Memories are of the men lost and why. I never received my awards just sent home but I served my country. While in Germany a guy wanted to fight but I didn't .MY friend said you'll have to go through me first.(He was a boxer) on outside, end of story.I was never bothered again. I went back to the trucking company before I was drafted.Im retired, Learned more about respecting others and life. Those who joined learn all you can and respect your brothers.I got reaquanted with a friend I haven't seen for 50 years. Vietnam made me not stay in, to many friends didn't come back or are still suffering.I got drafted, and when my best friend got hit gave me a lot of anger could not wait to get out of the war we never knew why we were there.,not respected.when we got home. Just these past few years have we got some respect for what we had to do.they train you to kill but when you get out don't teach you about how to deal with the outside(at least when I got out) Whn I got out I never received any citations I was due DRAFTED NOT ENLISTED
