Last Known Activity:

Richard Charles Martin II departed this life peacefully at his home in Dothan, Alabama on Tuesday, December 13th, 2022. He was 76 years old and a resident of Dothan, Alabama. 

Son of the late Richard C. Martin Sr. and Delia Luz Martin. Beloved husband of Elizabeth Elaine Williams Martin for almost 50 years. Father of Lisa P.R. Martin and Richard C. Martin III. Grandfather of Richard C. Martin IV, Alyssia Milstead and Angel Martin. Brother of James E. Martin. Brother-in-law of Jewell Birkhoff.

Richard joined the USAF and was later sent to Vietnam where he earned the Bronze Star for Valor. After exiting the USAF, he then entered the U.S. Army where he was awarded the Army Commendation Ribbon and later attained the rank of Major Infantry. In 2004 he went to Iraq and Afghanistan for 10 years as a Communication site Lead Contractor.

   
Other Comments:

I have been married to a 'Child Bride Georgia Peach' for 46 years. I met this young lady while attending the Infantry Officer Basic Course at Fort Benning School for Boys, in 1971. Married in '73, still with that gal today.

Bronze Star w/V. During TET in Vietnam for saving multiple C-130 from another C-130 struck be 122mm rocket.

My Bronze Star w/V. It showed that the AF thought what I felt as common sense was important.

Communications. I am a communications manager in Iraq. Been in country 6 1/2 years.
