Tribute From SP4 David Scales: Jan 24, 2018

Subject: Same Squad
Morrison and I was in the same squad along with Wayne Gulliksen, Albert Pillow, Whitney White and I David Scales. Our company C had helicopter perimter detail which is a way of giving us a relaxed day by not going in field. About 5 pm we was alerted to quicky get on the incoming helicopters coming and rush out to an unknown area at the time to rescue some recon group who ambushed by a battalion of NVA regulars. We arrived and entered the firefight which lasted into the night. I foun myself alone and attempted to crawl out of the area to regroup with others soon I crawled up on Morrison body he was dead laying face up shortly after I crawled up on Sgt Gulliksen body I continued to crawl until I felt it ws ok to stand up and I was then shot in my right forearm. I was evaced out some time later and well I am alive to tell this story.
