SSG William's or Ranger since that was what he was called. Bill was a hell of a warrior and had proven himself on many missions. He was the Team Leader (TL) for a Ranger Team in C Company (RGR), 75th Infantry (ABN), First Field Force Vietnam when he was KIA on Aug 1, 1969. The team blew an ambush on the enemy and before they knew it a large unit was all over them. But Bill did the best he could by getting another team member who was KIA back into the perimeter plus he executed a barrage of grenades on the enemy to reposition the team and to collect sensitive items and was wounded several times but he kept going. Every man in that 6 man team was wounded at least once and Bill finally died but the 4 wounded team members fought their way out of there and by the creed they took SSG Williams and the other team member who was KIA with them until they were all finally extracted. SSG William's was posthumously awarded the Distinguished Service Cross. The citation is on the left page of his profile.
It was a really great loss to the unit since they were both great Rangers. "HE WILL NEVER BE FORGOTTEN" RIP WARRIOR.
