~ In Humble Tribute ~
In Tribute to Cpl John Scott Rick, with So Much Gratitude for his Courage, Service and Dedication to our Country and for Freedom. Rest in Peace and know that you will NEVER BE FORGOTTEN. I am the sister of such a young hero, who also made the Supreme Sacrifice in Vietnam 1967... ...NOW ARISES FROM HALLOWED GROUND A DELICATE CLOUD OF BUGLE NOTES THAT SOFTLY SAY, GO TO SLEEP....COMRADES TRUE, BORN ANEW, PEACE TO YOU. YOUR SOULS SHALL BE WHERE THE HEROES ARE AND YOUR MEMORIES SHINE LIKE THE MORNING STAR....SLUMBER WELL, WHERE THE SHELLS SCREAMED AND FELL....THE DANGER HAS PASSED, AND NOW AT LAST, GO TO SLEEP.... Peace and condolence, to the family and friends. "He which hath no stomach to this fight let him depart. But we in it shall be remembered. We few, we happy few, we band of brothers!! For he today, that sheds his blood with me, shall always be my brother”. Rest in peace brave soldier, you have not been forgotten. (W.Shakespeare) May God Bless You for your Sacrifice!!!

Forgive me.
John Scott Rick.a name that I will remember for as long as I have memory. It was my decision. you followed my orders. Because of your heroism, at the cost of your life, two others lived. It said, "body recovered", I know, by the Grace of God, I found you. I'll NEVER FORGET YOU. Forgive me. Reb

Remembering An American Hero
Posted on 3/23/14 - by Curt Carter ccarter02@earthlink.net

Dear CPL John Scott Rick, sir As an American, I would like to thank you for your service and for your sacrifice made on behalf of our wonderful country. The youth of today could gain much by learning of heroes such as yourself, men and women whose courage and heart can never be questioned. May God allow you to read this, and may He allow me to someday shake your hand when I get to Heaven to personally thank you. May he also allow my father to find you and shake your hand now to say thank you; for America, and for those who love you. With respect, Sir Curt Carter

Remembered?

Yes, 'Rick', YOU are remembered! OFTEN, my man, Brother...I would that I could live that day, again... it would be different. I can't change it, so I relive it the same, again and again. R.I.P., Trooper Rick! You paid the price, and others survived, due to it. You were not left behind... An answered Prayer...

Never Forgotten
Posted on 12/8/05 - by Bill Nelson grite@yahoo.com

FOREVER REMEMBERED "If you are able, save for them a place inside of you....and save one backward glance when you are leaving for the places they can no longer go.....Be not ashamed to say you loved them....Take what they have left and what they have taught you with their dying and keep it with your own....And in that time when men decide and feel safe to call the war insane, take one moment to embrace those gentle hero’s you left behind...."Quote from a letter home by Maj. Michael Davis O'Donnell KIA 24 March 1970. Distinguished Flying Cross: Shot down and Killed while attempting to rescue 8 fellow soldiers surrounded by attacking enemy forces. We Nam Brothers pause to give a backward glance, and post this remembrance to you, one of the gentle heros lost to the War in Vietnam: Slip off that pack. Set it down by the crooked trail. Drop your steel pot alongside. Shed those magazine-ladened bandoliers away from your sweat-soaked shirt. Lay that silent weapon down and step out of the heat. Feel the soothing cool breeze right down to your soul ... and rest forever in the shade of our love, brother. From your Nam-Band-Of-Brothers

High school friend

To the Rick family, I am a Viet Nam vet. I went to high school with John and his sister Jenifer. For the longest time I tried to avoid any part of my year in Nam. Within the last year I have been on the internet searching for Viet Nam information. I hope this small tribute to a Viet Nam vet and my friend, John, will be of some comfort. All the Nam vets will be remembered by other vets, friends and family. I am sorry for your loss, and hope all the wounds will eventually be eased. My sincerest regards goes to all of the Rick family. Frank Tresenrider RVN 68-69.
