Most of the PC's took hits in the gas tanks. A20 exploded with me inside and I was wounded but went back to the field the next day. A28 exploded and all the KIA listed Parham, Elia, Esten, Michaud, Moore and Garnica except Kosel and Swalley were on A28. Only Frank Rompell survived but with bad wounds. The track explosions and the exploding ammo kept the NVA from getting to us who made it off the tracks. Swalley was shot thru the chest as he tried to hide in a bush. I am forever thankful to 1st and 3 rd. platoon and to B Troop. for coming out to get us. Thank you Jim Ross, you guys had no idea what you could be running into but you came because you knew we were in trouble just like with Dwight Birdwell and C Troop and I think you know we would have done the same for you.

My Brother
Dearest Leo, We are proud of your Service and cannot forget you. Your picture is on our wall, but our love for you lives in our hearts. We would have preferred you live to see your family grow - Your nieces and nephews and loved ones. But we have faith that you rest in heaven at the right hand of the Father. And, that you rest in peace. God Bless You. You are loved as much today, as yesterday. Our Love for you is constant.

Remembering An American Hero
Dear PFC Leo Edward Michaud, sir As an American, I would like to thank you for your service and for your sacrifice made on behalf of our wonderful country. The youth of today could gain much by learning of heroes such as yourself, men and women whose courage and heart can never be questioned. With respect, Sir Curt Carter
