I didn't know Lorenzo to well personally because he was in another platoon. However, I knew exactly what Lorenzo experienced as I experienced the same things which, fortunately, I survived. PFC Maulden experienced the ultimate sacrifice. I feel he gave more than that leaving behind a wife and young daughter. I have always felt this an unnecessary hardship that could and should have been avoided. There were enough of us young, single bucks around and they should not have taken husbands and fathers to be sacrificed. I hope that PFC Lorenzo Columbus Maulden's profile page I have created to show his heroism will comfort his daughter whom we have finally been connected with after searching for her for years

I remember Mom telling me what he did for me and the last time I was with him. I cannot say I remember any of it. I remember asking stepmom for information, but only got a picture and $5.00 from her.

Remembering An American Hero
Posted on 7/26/13 - by Curt Carter

Dear PFC Lorenzo Columbus Maulden, sir As an American, I would like to thank you for your service and for your sacrifice made on behalf of our wonderful country. The youth of today could gain much by learning of heroes such as yourself, men and women whose courage and heart can never be questioned. May God allow you to read this, and may He allow me to someday shake your hand when I get to Heaven to personally thank you. May he also allow my father to find you and shake your hand now to say thank you; for America, and for those who love you. With respect, and the best salute a civilian can muster for you, Sir Curt Carter

Lorenzo, Although we never met, I just want you to know you are not forgotten. You gave the ultimate sacrifice, your life for what you believed in. Sleep well my friend, and thank you for protecting the freedoms we enjoy today.
