I Remember
Craig, I remember you, you were one of the 'Big Kid's' on Main Street. I am thinking of you today, as I do every Memorial Day. I also think of your parents, Marge & Tom Warner, and say a prayer for all of you. God Bless you Craig Warner.

Don't grieve for me, for now I'm free, I'm following the path God laid for me. I took his hand when I heard Him call, I turned my back and left it all. I could not stay that day, to laugh, to love, to work or play. Task undone must stay that way. I found peace at the close of the day. If my parting left a void, then fill it with remembered joy. A friendship shared, a laugh, a kiss Ah, these things I too will miss. Be not burdened with time of sorrow, I wish for you the sunshine of tomorrow. My life's been full, I savored much Good friends, good times, a loved one touched. Perhaps my time seemed all to brief, But don't lengthen it now with undue grief. Lift up your hearts and share with me. God wanted me now, He set me free!

“You are Remembered”
Peace and condolence, to the family and friends. "He which hath no stomach to this fight let him depart. But we in it shall be remembered. We few, we happy few, we band of brothers!! For he today, that sheds his blood with me, shall always be my brother”. Rest in peace brave soldier, you have not been forgotten. (W.Shakespeare) May God Bless You for your Sacrifice!!!

Seems like only yesterday
Craig (I don't recall anyone back in Scranton PA calling him Thomas) was one of those laid-back, casual types who always seemed to have a basketball in his hands (or be chasing one down the paved hill at the gradeschool playground on Cornell street).
In Washington on business a few years ago I paid a visit to The Wall where I looked up his name and Mike Vancosky's, another of the West Side guys lost in "the conflict".
As is the way of the wall, I traced the letters on their panel until I came to touch the names I was looking for. For some reason that tactile sense put me right back there on Main Street, hanging out at the Wall (Fletcher's Drug Store: perhaps as close as any of us ever came to a library as we read Archie Comics until we got chased out by Old Man Warner, who was neither old nor a relation to Swish and Sway Warner: did I mention it was basketball season year round for those guys?) and I recalled vividly the feeling that the world was then safe and comfortable, and both far better than it was when our depression era parents grew up in those same streets and yet practically unchangeable since each day seemed to be only a slight variation of the one before.
Little did we know then that everything would soon change for all of us. Nor could we imagine then how our sons and daughters would eventually face the same losses of some of the nicest kids on the block as a result of complicated, divisive and emotionally charged foreign hostilities.
Craig, wishing you were here buddy. Everything is different these days but nothing much has changed.
