Remembering

Sgt. Swantak was my outstanding tank commander. Our platoon was taking lead for B Troop when we were ambushed as we approached Trang Bang. An RPG hit a limb just above Sgt. Swantak's head killing him instantly. I had been the loader but had been dusted off early that morning following an attack on our perimeter (the same time SSgt Ed Wilmers was hit and paralyzed), so I was already in base camp (never did get my Purple Heart, whine, whine :-). Our platoon commander, Lt. Parnelli was also killed that day. I never forget them whenever May 25 comes around. Thanks for the info John. You obvious love for our troopers and commitment to the 3/4 Cav. Assoc. is an example to us all. Dennis

In Remembrance of your Sacrifice and with a Multitude of Thanks for your Courage, Service and Dedication to our Country and for Freedom. Rest in Peace, SSgt Dennis Ray Swantak and know that you will NEVER BE FORGOTTEN. My brother, Sgt. David Dickinson is a young hero, who also made the Supreme Sacrifice in Vietnam in 1967.....A PAIN, NO ONE CAN HEAL...A MEMORY NO ONE CAN STEAL...A SOLDIER'S DEATH GIVES MORE YET...IT LEAVES BEHIND A LESSON TO IMMITATE.....A LESSON.....NO ONE SHOULD EVER FORGET.

Peace and condolence, to the family and friends. "He which hath no stomach to this fight let him depart. But we in it shall be remembered. We few, we happy few, we band of brothers!! For he today, that sheds his blood with me, shall always be my brother”. Rest in peace brave soldier, you have not been forgotten. (W.Shakespeare) May God Bless You for your Sacrifice!!!

Cousins
Went to the traveling wall and looked for your name Dennis. I was not prepared for the tears or depth of emotion that came bubbling up. You were only two years older than me, one of the cousins on the farm, we all played and grew up together. I remembered all the horrors of this war that killed too many of our young American men. I remembered you and longed to tell of there finally being this moving tribute to your sacrifice. Many changes since you've been gone, but your memory will remain as long as The Wall stands. Your cousin, Cheri

You, Sir, Have Not Been Forgotten!
http://www.geocities.com/rememberance004

I had the opportunity to visit The Vietnam Memorial Wall in Washington DC. I was so overwhelmed with sorrow and pain that I could not hold back the tears for those heroes and their families who lost so much. Though my visit to the Wall was a few years ago, I feel that I left a piece of my heart there. To honor those who died in the Vietnam War and to say thank you I created a small tribute to those heroes. Please click on the link above to view memorial website.

Missing my
Dennis...it's been such a long time since Vietnam, but you are still in our hearts. I married a Vietnam vet and now understand the depth of what you faced. You are always missed and I often have thoughts of what might have been. Hope you have talked with your Uncle Art. He left us in 1997. Your Mom is with Joyce and still tough as always

Just Yesterday
Seems like just yesterday we were @ your folks house for your wedding. My girlfriend at the time is now my wife. Been married 35 years now. We've traveled to the wall twice and shed a tear for you each time. Still miss you. Your cousin Tom.

Dennis, Although we never met, I just want you to know you are not forgotten. You gave the ultimate sacrifice, your life for what you believed in. Sleep well my friend, and thank you for protecting our freedoms.
