Tough as a rock.
Tommy was the hero of a USAREUR DODDS football game against the Kaiserslaultern Red Raiders by breaking thru their rightline and winning the game for the frankfurt Eagles by one point, 20-19. He was extremely tough and just fast enough to have had that winning touchdown. He was in his junior year of high school and an All-USAREUR fullback that year.

Tommy was the hardest hitting running back on the Frankfurt Americam High School Championship football team, 1958. I would call his number everytime we needed to grind out two tough, thankless yards. I'm sure he was the same kind of soldier.
