Everyday
Hi Uncle Kevin. It's Ray. I was ten when you were taken and I still remember you like it was yesterday. Always smiling, joking and making everyone happy. My mom truly cherished you and my father...well he thought you were one of the brightest young men and was ready to venture toward many successes. We all loved you and still love you. I think of you everyday often wondering what would have become of you. I must say that you are always within me. I am 54 now and it makes me so sad that you are gone longer than you lived. But that is the way it is for many young men such as yourself. Never given the opportunity to finish what promised to be a wonderful life. Too tragic, too unfare, too sad. Please say hi to grandma, grandpa, Uncle Jay, my dad and now Patty. Please look for me when it is my time. I love you so much. Ray

We got to Vietnam at the same time and became very close in that short time. I think about you every day and I wish there was a way to contact your daughter to tell her about the last day of your life. You are missed, Peace Brother

Kevin and I went to Basic and AIT together. He was always Pops because of his age. He was married with children. we were due to go to Nam together but he took an extra days leave figuring what the hell I guess. There were three of us from ther neighborhood. He spent the extra time and than showed up in Long Bien with our other buddy Robert Murphy who was killed on May 14,1999. I never forgot you Ross.

Never Forgotten
FOREVER REMEMBERED

"If you are able, save for them a place inside of you....and save one backward glance when you are leaving for the places they can no longer go.....Be not ashamed to say you loved them....
Take what they have left and what they have taught you with their dying and keep it with your own....And in that time when men decide and feel safe to call the war insane, take one moment to embrace those gentle heroes you left behind...."

Quote from a letter home by Maj. Michael Davis O'Donnell
KIA 24 March 1970. Distinguished Flying Cross: Shot down and Killed while attempting to rescue 8 fellow soldiers surrounded by attacking enemy forces.

We Nam Brothers pause to give a backward glance, and post this remembrance to you, one of the gentle heroes lost to the War in Vietnam:

Slip off that pack. Set it down by the crooked trail. Drop your steel pot alongside. Shed those magazine-ladened bandoliers away from your sweat-soaked shirt. Lay that silent weapon down and step out of the heat. Feel the soothing cool breeze right down to your soul ... and rest forever in the shade of our love, brother.

From your Nam-Band-Of-Brothers
