Charlie Rosenbusch and I grew up together in Sutton Ma. a small town outside Worcester. In 1953 a tornado destroyed Charlie's home in Worcester, and his family moved to Sutton, we were best friends, when Charlie was 16 his family moved back to Worcester, but we remained close. He went into the Army and as you know was KIA May 9, 1968. I enlisted in the Army April 69 and served from Nov 69 to Nov 70 at LZ Betty, (Phan Thiet), RVN. About 10 years ago I was reading a book, "100 Miles of bad Road", and there was a section on Charlie, I contacted the Author to see if he had any more info on Charlie, he put me in contact with his platoon sgt, Richard, (last name CRS), but I have it somewhere. He was from Hawaii, Big Island, My wife and I went to Hawaii in 2009 for our 40th anniversary, and met up with Richard, they were very close, and he spent a long time trying to get Charlie's name plaque put back on his grave, (very long sad story). I was a member of the "Vietnam Veterans for the Community", and a member of the Board of Directors of the Mass Vietnam Veterans Memorial, in Worcester. I am a member of "TWS", non active. In Sept 2014, we left Sutton and moved to Dresden Maine, now I am active with the Travis Mills Foundation,

Any information I can help you with, please feel free to ask.
Thank you for the work you've done with TWS.

Remembering an American Hero

Dear SP5 Charles Richard Rosenbusch, sir
As an American, I would like to thank you for your service and for the ultimate sacrifice that you made on behalf of our wonderful country. The youth of today could gain much by learning of heroes such as yourself, men and women whose courage and heart can never be questioned.
May God allow you to read this, and may He allow me to someday shake your hand when I get to Heaven to personally thank you. And please know that men and women like you have stepped forward to defend our country yet again, showing the same love for country and their fellow Americans that you did- you would be proud.
With respect, and the best salute that a civilian can muster for you.

A GRATEFUL AMERICAN
RI & MA USA
**TO HONOR AN AMERICAN HERO NOT FORGOTTEN**
Our debt to the heroic men and valiant women in the service of our country can never be repaid, they have earned our undying gratitude. America will never forget their sacrifices. - PRESIDENT HARRY S. TRUMAN ~ ~ ~ SP5 ROSENBUSCH UNITED STATES ARMY - Although many years have passed, you are not forgotten this day nor will you ever be. I will forever be grateful for your honorable service and supreme sacrifice that you have so courageously bestowed upon our nation. You will forever live in the hearts of all of those you have touched. ~~~~ I am very grateful and would like to honor all of our Vietnam veterans who have so proudly and courageously served our country. No veteran should ever be forgotten. The veteran who lived through this horrible war, left with everlasting memories and whose lives may never be the same, the disabled veteran who returned with hardships and many permanent reminders and the pain of that war, the POW/MIA veteran we wait for and whose family and friends are tormented for so, so long not knowing and the fallen veteran who died at such a young age leaving their families devastated forever - all had one thing in common and that was to fight for our freedom, our country - we owe them so much and a thank you is where to begin and to never forget them for their gallantry, fortitude and valor. I salute each and every one of them.~~~~ ~United States Army Values~ Loyalty, Duty, Respect, Selfless-Service, Honor, Integrity, Personal Courage SP5 ROSENBUSCH - Thank you for all that you have given and you have given your all.

Never Forgotten
FOREVER REMEMBERED
"If you are able, save for them a place inside of you....and save one backward glance when you are leaving for the places they can no longer go.....Be not ashamed to say you loved them....
Take what they have left and what they have taught you with their dying and keep it with your own....And in that time when men decide and feel safe to call the war insane, take one moment to embrace those gentle heroes you left behind...."
Quote from a letter home by Maj. Michael Davis O'Donnell
KIA 24 March 1970. Distinguished Flying Cross: Shot down and Killed while attempting to rescue 8 fellow soldiers surrounded by attacking enemy forces.
We Nam Brothers pause to give a backward glance, and post this remembrance to you, one of the gentle heroes lost to the War in Vietnam:
Slip off that pack. Set it down by the crooked trail. Drop your steel pot alongside. Shed those magazine-ladened bandoliers away from your sweat-soaked shirt. Lay that silent weapon down and step out of the heat. Feel the soothing cool breeze right down to your soul ... and rest forever in the shade of our love, brother.
From your Nam-Band-Of-Brothers
