Oh, I have slipped the surly bonds of earth and danced the skies on laughter-silvered wings, Sunward I've climbed, and joined the tumbling mirth of sun-split clouds and done a hundred things. You have not dreamed of wheeled and soared and swung, high in the sunlit silence, hov'ring there, I've chased the shouting wind along, and flung my eager craft through footless halls of air. Up, up the long delirious, burning blue I've topped the windswept heights with easy grace, where never lark, or even eagle flew, and, while with silent, lifting mind I've trod the high untrespassed sanctity of space, put out my hand and touched the face of God. Wish I could have known you and thousands of brave vets like you. Sorry for the suffering you all endured in Vietnam and I'm still ashamed thirty some years later of the abuse our people inflicted on you all at home. We were born within days of each other. Had I been male, I surely would have been drafted. Just as you did, I would have answered the call without hesitation and probably would occupy a space on the Memorial Wall alongside you. Thanks for the unselfish sacrifice you were my heroes then, and my heroes now!

Remembering An American Hero
Posted on 11/17/13 - by Curt Carter ccarter02@earthlink.net

Dear PFC Frank Wolgo Paulos, sir As an American, I would like to thank you for your service and for your sacrifice made on behalf of our wonderful country. The youth of today could gain much by learning of heroes such as yourself, men and women whose courage and heart can never be questioned.May God allow you to read this, and may He allow me to someday shake your hand when I get to Heaven to personally thank you. May he also allow my father to find you and shake your hand now to say thank you; for America, and for those who love you. With respect, and the best salute a civilian can muster for you, Sir Curt Carter

Do not stand at my grave and weep
Posted on 12/19/05 - by Bob Ross

Do not stand at my grave and weep. I am not there; I do not sleep. I am a thousand winds that blow, I am the diamond glints on snow, I am the sun on ripened grain, I am the gentle autumn rain. When you awaken in the morning's hush I am the swift uplifting rush Of quiet birds in circled flight. I am the soft stars that shine at night. Do not stand at my grave and cry, I am not there; I did not die. Mary Frye – 1932
