~TREASURE THIS HERO LORD, IN YOUR GARDEN OF REST, FOR WHILE HERE ON EARTH, HE WAS ONE OF OUR BEST~

O God, by whose mercy the faithful departed find rest, look kindly on your departed veterans who gave their lives in the service of their country. Grant that through the passion, death, and resurrection of your Son they may share in the joy of your heavenly kingdom and rejoice in you with your saints forever. We ask this through Christ our Lord.

I remember Our dead brothers still live for us and bid us think of life, not death-of life to which in their youth they lent the passion and joy of the spring. As I listen, the great chorus of life and joy begins again and amid the awful orchestra of seen and unseen powers and destinies of good and evil our trumpets sound once more a note of daring, hope and will. I see them now as once I saw them on this earth. They are the same bright figures that come also before your eyes and when I speak of those who were my brothers, the same words describe yours. Jim was my Platoon leader in the Centaurs when he
was killed in a rocket attack. He was well liked by
everyone, and I remember his death hitting me very
hard. He was a fine officer and a good man, and his
death came much too soon. His family and friends can
be very proud of his service and the way that he led
people
