friend and I flew often with him

I was an ATC at Tay Ninh tower I flew a lot after work with Carnathan (Centaur 15)and Jerry (normally Carnathans crew chief). I was set to fly with Elliot & Jerry this day (Carnathan was on R&R) My commanding officer changed that. I actually cleared them for take off, Steven Dobry flying instead of me. McGlothlen was cool & fearless Dobry looked like he was 14 yrs old & always smiling. It should have been me with McGlothlen. Carnathan was the pilot who found them when he got back from R&R.

"Old Friend"
Today is July 4th, 2001. I was there the day you were listed as missing. I was there the day we found the crash site. We went out to bring you and Dobry home. Looked for Elliott but could not find him. Don't know what happened. You were a good friend. I have thought about you guys every day since then. I know your son (or daughter) would have been very proud of you. Your were a true "Light Scout". From - SP5 David Atkinson, DTrp, 3rd Sqd., 4th Cav., 25th Inf. Div., a fellow "Light Scout."
