SSG Martin was my platoon DI during basic training at Fort Leonard Wood E-1-2, Mar-May 1966. Although trainees don't get close to DIs, I knew SSG Martin took his responsibility to make sure we learned our new occupational skills of how to defeat an enemy and survive very seriously. I eventually had signal sites that supported the 101st Div, MACV-Hue, 1st ARVN Div, and Naval ports from DaNang to Dong Ha, 69-70. SSG Martin was a Great, Dedicated, American and Soldier. I know you did your job in the best Army tradition rest easy dear friend you trained us well.
