Leo and I were best friends in basic at Knox and AIT at Polk. We went to Germany together and got split up there. He was in a hurt in Germany due to some racism. We ended up 1040'd to 'Nam about the same time but didn't hook up except by mail. I went to the Air Cav and he to the Mech. In May '70 I was in Cambodia and after some actions, we went to help out an LZ in deep shit with snipers and land attacks. 'Lopez' was already gone, in a bag. Leo, if that was you, I'm sorry I didn't have the nerve to open that bag to kiss you goodbye. That haunts me regularly. I think of you alot, and I still see your smile. We should have gone together, but I hope now you are at peace. Some day soon, you can tell me 'Welcome Home, Brother' and it will be alright. Love, the Grey Dude.

“You are Remembered”
Peace and condolence, to the family and friends. "He which hath no stomach to this fight let him depart. But we in it shall be remembered. We few, we happy few, we band of brothers!! For he today, that sheds his blood with me, shall always be my brother.” Rest in peace brave soldier, you have not been forgotten. (W.Shakespeare) May God Bless You for your Sacrifice!!!

You Are Forever In My Heart
My name is Phoenix Marr and I am a senior at Gridley High School in Gridley, Illinois. My history teacher challenged all of his students to write remembrances for those of the men and women who gave their lives while fighting for our country. Although I did not know Leopoldo personally, I know that he put forth all of his courage, strength, and integrity. I want to take this time to thank him for his incredible pride and unbelievable bravery. You will always be in my heart! God Bless!
