Dear Brother
My dear brother, God truly blessed us when He gave us a brother like you. I can remember like it was yesterday, that handsome face and shock of white-blond hair, your cheerful serene smile and giving heart shining from familiar blue eyes. Your love for family was evident in every action you made. Your loving advice to your niece and nephew still rings in their ears. I remember so many things the times we spent in the house where we grew up,how I couldn't make cherry crunch for years after you'd gone knowing it was your favorite. I cherish every memory from the first gift you ever gave me,to the last letter you wrote. I often wonder if you somehow knew you weren't meant to be long for this life,so you squeezed a lifetime of living, learing, and loving into 23 short years. Where once there were eleven, there are now ten and although time heals all wounds, our hearts will always carry the scar your passing left. Life changes but nothing will ever change how we all love and miss you. I love you Elmer, and I look forward to the day when we will meet once more in God's Kingdom.

Brother and Fellow Soldier
My Brother, My Hero
From one soldier who has walked the same path, to another who wasn’t as lucky as I. Taken too soon, you did the duty you were called to do. You are shamed by some, but a hero to others. You’re my brother and you’re my hero. There are no words to express how proud I am of you. I pray one day to meet you in heaven and see that you have received the most precious medal anyone could receive. You make us all exceedingly proud to have had you as our brother.

Dearest Brother
When you are a teenager you need someone to look up to your own personal hero. You were that hero for me. Your laughter was contagious even when you were being mischievous, your presence comforting. Always confident and self assured, no matter what was wrong the sound of your voice made it disappear. My darkest days were when you were taken from us. I felt the sense of loss one afternoon even before the news of your death arrived. Time does not heal as some say. I pray your faith was in Jesus so our reunion in heaven will be for eternity. Thank you for being my brother, friend, and hero. 'My prayer is not for them alone. I pray also for those who will believe in me through their message, that all of them may be one.' John 17:20.

I was 7 years old when you were taken from me and my life. The one memory that always pops into my head when I hear your name, is you buying me a RC Cola and a bag of peanuts at the store. I open my bag of peanuts and they go all over the floor board of the truck and all you do is laugh. I love you and miss you!!!! You are a hero and you will always be my hero.

Your Sacrifice

You sacrificed your life for our country before we even met, but your family continues to cherish you and tell future generations about the sacrifice you made and about the life you lived. Even though we never met I will carry the memories of my mother and never let them die. Thank you for your sacrifice. 'He who has gone, so we but cherish his memory, abides with us, more potent, nay, more present than the living man.' ~Antoine de Saint-Exupery

“You are Remembered”
Peace and condolence, to the family and friends. "He which hath no stomach to this fight let him depart. But we in it shall be remembered. We few, we happy few, we band of brothers!! For he today, that sheds his blood with me, shall always be my brother”. Rest in peace brave soldier, you have not been forgotten. (W.Shakespeare) May God Bless You for your Sacrifice!!!

We remember, Elmer. You embody
The term "Volunteer," the name by which we from Tennessee are known. Thanking you is so meaningless, in one way; for it will not bring you back alive. Yet it is appropriate, and it is in keeping with the honor and remembrances which you are due. I remember you as a teenager in school; and I now remember that you gave your life that we may live freely.
May G*D rest your soul, my friend
