Remembering An American Hero
Posted on 6/13/16 - by Curt Carter ccarter02@earthlink.net
Dear SP4 Richard Thomas Huggett, sir
As an American, I would like to thank you for your service and for your sacrifice made on behalf of our wonderful country. The youth of today could gain much by learning of heroes such as yourself, men and women whose courage and heart can never be questioned.
May God allow you to read this, and may He allow me to someday shake your hand when I get to Heaven to personally thank you. May he also allow my father to find you and shake your hand now to say thank you; for America, and for those who love you.
With respect, Sir
Curt Carter
Ft. Carson friend

I dated another soldier at Ft. Carson who was friends with Rick. My friend would bring other soldiers over to my mom's house to hang out, and Rick was one of them. I remember him as charming and very funny! He and a couple of other soldiers spent Christmas 1967 with my family and I. He was so very homesick that day. I have always felt bad that he wasn't able to spend his last Christmas with his family that he loved so much. I still think of him now and then. He will not be forgotten.

I love you no matter what & no matter where, into the eternity
Ricky was the most caring, giving individual God put on this earth. He thought of others before himself & he gave himself for all of us. I hope we carry that gift everyday-he totally enlightened my & my family's lives by being just who he was-we all miss him terribly & think about him always. I know it will be a joyous reunion in heaven. He is truly our hero....Alane
