Dear CPL Howard John Hartman, sir As an American, I would like to thank you for your service and for your sacrifice made on behalf of our wonderful country. The youth of today could gain much by learning of heroes such as yourself, men and women whose courage and heart can never be questioned. May God allow you to read this, and may He allow me to someday shake your hand when I get to Heaven to personally thank you. May he also allow my father to find you and shake your hand now to say thank you; for America, and for those who love you. With respect, Sir Curt Carter
You were my Ralphy's best friend... I can still remember, like it was yesterday all the laughing, the music, and the penny candy store. Ralphy made it home, Howard but we never forgot you.. having Ralph Honored as a Vietnam Vet soon.

“You are Remembered”
Peace and condolence to the family and friends. “He which hath no stomach, to this fight, let him depart. But we in it, shall be remembered. We few, we happy few, we band of brothers!! For he today, that sheds his blood with me, shall always be my brother.” Rest in peace brave soldier, you have not been forgotten. (W.Shakespeare) May God Bless you, for your Sacrifice!!!

Our 40th, high school reunion, came and went October 14, 2006. Howard John Hartman, was recalled fondly, remembered and revered, by all in attendance. It was an honor, to have graduated from high school, with such an uncommon hero. As long, as we have reunions, we will cherish the recollections, of our classmate, friend, 'son,' of South Lake and hero, Howard John Hartman. The next time, I visit the Wall in DC., I will touch his name, turn and tell my own, high school students, in my charge, that . . . "Freedom, is not free."

To a true, hero and friend
I knew you, as Johnny. You came out, to visit your Dad, every summer and he knew me, through my mother. We had some good times, during those summers, going to Disneyland, going to the desert and shooting, our rifles and riding, your go-cart. I miss you, friend. John

Just paying my respects
Howard, I never met you as your sacrifice was made 3 years before I was born. I am the son of your wife Cathy. I found your name on the Wall this past May while on a visit to DC with my son. I just wanted to say Hello and Thank You. My mom is well and living in St Clair Shores. She remarried and had 3 children. I just wanted you to know that you are not forgotten.
Howard you are not forgotten. Your father had this sketch drawn from a small photo he had in his wallet. The drawing was found by your Aunt Shirley in your father's apartment when he passed away
