Today is a day that will live in my heart forever.
It marks 47 years since Del left us.
I remember our discussion the day before, when we discussed
how "crazy" things had become out there in the bush!
We discussed how close Del was to going home!
That is probably the hardest part of all, knowing how glad you
were to be going home soon!
See you in Heaven someday, my friend!
Dear SGT Colombo Phil Del Terzo, sir As an American, I would like to thank you for your service and for your sacrifice made on behalf of our wonderful country. The youth of today could gain much by learning of heroes such as yourself, men and women whose courage and heart can never be questioned. May God allow you to read this, and may He allow me to someday shake your hand when I get to Heaven to personally thank you. May he also allow my father to find you and shake your hand now to say thank you; for America, and for those who love you. With respect, Sir Curt Carter
I can't believe it is almost 47 years! I saw you the night before you passed away.
I'll never forget your infectious smile!
Columbo Phil Delterzo...My God Father and cousin
Posted on 5/24/14 - by Diane Koutsos-Oliva
Last time I saw him alive was 1967...I was four years old. He left for Vietnam as did four more of my cousins, he was the only one who didn't make it home. I think of him often and remember him very vividly. He loved me with his whole heart and spent a lot of time with me...I still love him and miss him terribly. He was a saint on Earth, now he's a star in the sky...with all of my heart, I love you Columbo.
My name is Rose Peterson, my husbands name is Myron Peterson aka "Pete" he served with Co B 1/5 Mech, 1st Platoon 1st squad based in He was wounded on May 16, 1968 and shipped home. My husband thought a lot of Colombo Phil DelTerzo this fellow soldier left a lasting impression on my husband he had a lot of love and respect for him so much so that he named our first son after him, his name is Colombo Del Peterson. A lot of time has passed and much healing has taken place. We would like to know more about Colombo DelTerzo and contact his family to let them know what an impression he made on a fellow soldier. We also want to let our son know more of his namesake. If you have any information as to where we might contact some of the family we would appreciate it very much and of course with their permission. Also my husband says there was a Randy that was also wounded on May 16, 1968 could that be you? I found your email addy on the Virtual Wall website
