Captain Paul Martindale is one of the men I most respected during my time in Vietnam. Here I am years later and can still recall the day he died. He was a very brave man and a friend to all that knew him. Of all the personal losses I feel for that time of my life, Captain Martindale ranks at the top of my list.

OH!. I HAVE SLIPPED THE SURLEY BONDS OF EARTH, AND DANCED THE SKIES ON LAUGHTER-SILVERED WINGS. WHERE NEVER LARK OR EAGLE EVER FLEW-AND WHILE WITH SILENT, LIFTING MIND I'VE TROD THE HIGH UNTRESSPASSED SANCTITY OF SPACE, PUT OUT MY HAND AND TOUCHED THE FACE OF GOD.

We Remember
Paul is buried at Sawyer Cem, Sandy Ridge, Lowndes Co, AL
Do not stand at my grave and weep
Do not stand at my grave and weep
I am not there; I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow,
I am the diamond glints on snow,
I am the sun on ripened grain,
I am the gentle autumn rain.
When you awaken in the morning's hush
I am the swift uplifting rush
Of quiet birds in circled flight.
I am the soft stars that shine at night.
Do not stand at my grave and cry,
I am not there; I did not die.

NATIVE AMERICAN PRAYER
It is said a man hasn't died as long as he is remembered. This prayer is a way for families, friends and fellow veterans to remember our fallen brothers and sisters. Do not stand at my grave and weep I am not there, I do not sleep. I am a thousand winds that blow, I am the diamond glints on snow. I am the sunlight on ripened grain, I am the gentle autumn rain. When you awaken in the morning hush, I am the swift, uplifting rush of quiet birds in circled flight, I am the stars that shine at night. Do not stand at my grave and cry, I am not there, I did not die

For Justin Martindale re his brother Paul
I used to live in Washington, DC, where I often visited the Wall. Now I stop in here during the evening and read about some of the individuals who served in Vietnam and gave their lives on that date, years earlier. My brothers are all Vietnam era vets and one served in Vietnam. This War changed all of our lives and I don't want people to forget what our brothers did. Tonight I want to thank you for sharing your brother's picture. If you see this, I would be most interested in reading your brother's story, as you mentioned, if you are ever able to post it. Please know that your brother Paul is not forgotten. May he rest in peace
