“You are Remembered”
Peace and condolence, to the family and friends. “He which hath no stomach, to this fight, let him depart. But we in it, shall be remembered. We few, we happy few, we band of brothers!! For he today, that sheds his blood with me, shall always be my brother.” Rest in peace brave soldier, you have not been forgotten. (W.Shakespeare) May God Bless you, for your Sacrifice!!!

Rest in peace, brave soldier. You, are not forgotten. In order, to fully honor those Americans, killed, in Vietnam, we must also honor those, who served and survived.

I remember Athey, as a good-natured kid, with a southern drawl. We served together, in the 1st, Inf., Div., APO.. We used, to tease him, about being a "III," although he was, an unassuming, down-home, kind of guy. When the 1st, Div., was brought home, we were all assigned, to the 11th, Armored Cav., APO.. None of us, liked it there much. Athey, got into a big verbal fight, with the First Sergeant and soon found himself, assigned to the field with an engineering bn.. Shortly after, I returned home, I learned, of him being killed in a freak accident. The world lost a good man. My sympathies go out, to all his family and friends.

Do not stand at my grave and weep
Do not stand at my grave and weep.
I am not there; I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow,
I am the diamond glints on snow,
I am the sun on ripened grain,
I am the gentle autumn rain.
When you awaken in the morning's hush
I am the swift uplifting rush
Of quiet birds in circled flight.
I am the soft stars that shine at night.
Do not stand at my grave and cry,
I am not there; I did not die.

Scott Athey? Dad?
I'm unsure if this Mr. Burder Smith III Athey is part of my family but my father's name is Scott Athey, the same as the one posted here. I would like to know more about any connection between myself and this hero's name on the wall. If you could contact me at rhi528@hotmail.com any information would be greatly appreciated.

 thank you
Thank you Sir, for paying the supreme sacrifice for the sake of others. I am a student of Gridley High School in Illinois, and am doing an extra credit project on the virtual wall. I cannot imagine the horrible circumstances you were put through in your dedication to serving America. I can only hope that if I am put in a similar situation I will have the courage you possessed in laying down your life for Americans. Your actions will never be forgotten
