For his sister, Melody, I leave this in her behalf:
She will never forget you
You had just turned 21
Both your lives had just begun
Although I never met you
I know you, for your Songbird
your sister, Melody, still sings.

My friend Robin was a joy to know. We had Stagecraft classes together at Canoga High. He was also my Prom date. I only found out about his passing when I attended our 40th HS reunion on July 29th, 2006.
It pierced my heartstrings to read his Obituary on the Memory Board.
I can still see his smile and will always remember how he only had words of encouragement whenever I needed a shoulder to lean on.

As a teacher, I thought it would be good for my students to visit the Vietnam Memorial with more than just a look at the wall. So instead, I found names of soldiers that had actually died on the day of our visit and had my students make an etching of their names. It was so much more personal and touching. You are not forgotten.

It's Memorial Day, Weekend, 2009. It is a solemn time, for me personally, as I reflect, on war and it's impact, on those who, participated and gave, their lives and very importantly, their family and friends. Although, I never met you, Mr. Robin Annis, you are listed as being, from Canoga Park and from the comments, on this page, we went, to many of places – Pierce College and Topanga Plaza – just at different times. You were a contemporary, of Marine, PFC., Bruce Teague. Mr. Teague was, from Canoga Park and I attended, Hale Junior, High School in 1968, with his younger sister, the year he was KIA., in Vietnam. Had I been, just, a few years older, I would have been faced, with the same, choice you did – whether, or not, to serve your country, in the military. On this year’s holiday weekend, my deepest respect and admiration, go out, to you, Mr. Robin Annis for choosing, to serve, our country and my deepest, condolences and prayers, go out, to your family and friends. My thanks also, to this fine website, for enabling Americans, to be informed, about these brave soldiers, who sacrificed their lives, for us.

You will, always be remembered, for your warm, smile!
It has been, awhile, since I came, to visit ,this web page, but was jolted back, to reality, with a reminder. Robin's memory will, always be special to me, as it is very hard, to forget, your Prom Date!:) Robin was always, so sweet and dear, towards me and very encouraging, in his support of whatever interests, I shared, with him. I remember, on our Prom night, what a wonderful gentleman, he was and because of him, that night will always be, a very happy, memory for me. His loss, is sad, to many people who's lives, were touched, by him even, after all, these years. God bless you, Robin...... I know you, are on, the right side, of Angels. Pierce College Connection
I was a freshman at Pierce College in Woodland Hills, California when I first met Robin in the spring of 1968. We became good friends. He loved the theatre and acting. One of his last roles was the character of Friar Laurence in Romeo & Juliet. Robin was so dedicated he shaved a round circular bald spot on his head just to look the part.
He was drafted in the summer of 1968. He came home on leave for the last time around December of '68 to visit family and friends. At the end of his leave, I had the honor of driving Robin from his parent's home in Canoga Park to LAX. As he exited the car in his dress uniform and walked toward the terminal, I will never forget that image of Robin. It was late evening and there was a mist in the air. Hollywood could not have captured a more dramatic moment with the lights and shadows. The young soldier going off to war to serve his country disappears into a crowd. It was truly surreal.
Robin and I corresponded with letters during his two month stay in Vietnam. On 2 April 1969, a couple of days before he died, he wrote one of his last letters. He never got the chance to mail it to me. It came home with his things. In it he shared, "I thank God for every second of my life and all the things I've seen or experienced (good or bad) and especially (in a funny sort of way) for letting me be able to see Vietnam at this time." Robin, you were such a good friend. You loved God, life, people, and the theatre so much. You gave the ultimate sacrifice. Your memory is forever. See you later!

I wanted, to thank Dave Eifert, for his comment, about my brother, Robin. It is nice to know, that he is, still thought of, after all these years. I have tried, to locate Dave so that, I could find out, the name of his mom, but have had no luck. If anyone out there, knew Robin, I would love to correspond, with you. I was just about, to turn 17, when Robin was killed, in 1969 and would love, the opportunity to talk, with those who, knew him again. thank you for your comment, Dave and I'am glad, that you were able, to make a rubbing, for your mom. I didn't know you, or even, of you, until I was, about to leave, for a vacation to Washington, D.C. and was told, about you, by my mother. You went, to high school, together and dated, her best friend. One, of the highlights, of my trip was the time, I spent looking, for your name and getting, a rubbing, for me and for her. The look, of emotion, on her face, when she saw it, was overwhelming. It just reiterated, the emotions, I felt, looking, at the Wall and realized, the sacrifices, you and all, these others, had made, for all of us. Thank you and rest in peace.

I had, the opportunity to visit, The Vietnam Memorial Wall. I was so overwhelmed, with sorrow and pain, that I could not hold back the tears, for those heroes and their families, who lost so much. Though my visit, to the Wall was a few years ago, I feel, that I left a piece, of my heart there. To honor those, who died in the Vietnam, War and to say thank you, I created a small tribute, to those heroes. Please click, on the link above, to view, my website.

Los Angeles County Vietnam Veterans Memorial Highway
A portion of Sepulveda Boulevard/State Highway Route 1 in El Segundo near Los Angeles International Airport has been dedicated to the residents of Los Angeles County who served in Vietnam. This section of highway is now designated the Los Angeles County Vietnam Veterans Memorial Highway. Adopted by the California State Legislature in 2000, the highway honors the more than 350,000 California veterans who served in the Vietnam War, including the 5,822 killed or missing in action. Los Angeles County has the largest number of Vietnam veterans in California and 1,857 of its residents were killed or missing in action during that war. This memorial corridor provides a fitting and proper way for the residents of Los Angeles County to express their gratitude and appreciation for the sacrifices these Vietnam veterans have made for their country.

A name on The Wall
He was an actor. He was an only son. He was an only sibling. He loved to read Shakespeare and John Steinbeck. His nickname was "Hook" because he loved the story of Peter Pan. He hated guns.

Robin was my brother. I was only 16 when we were told that he had been killed... it was on Good Friday. I never got the chance to know him as a man, but remember him as a wonderful and loving brother. I miss him very much, and although it has been over 30 years since his death, I am now just beginning to come to terms with this.

Perhaps you knew him... perhaps you didn't. Either way, don't forget him. He is more than just a name on the wall... he was Robin... my brother

Never Forgotten
FOREVER REMEMBERED

"If you are able, save for them a place inside of you....and save one backward glance when you are leaving for the places they can no longer go.....Be not ashamed to say you loved them....
Take what they have left and what they have taught you with their dying and keep it with your own....And in that time when men decide and feel safe to call the war insane, take one moment to embrace those gentle heros you left behind...."

Quote from a letter home by Maj. Michael Davis O'Donnell
KIA 24 March 1970. Distinguished Flying Cross: Shot down and Killed while attempting to rescue 8 fellow soldiers surrounded by attacking enemy forces.

We Nam Brothers pause to give a backward glance, and post this remembrance to you, one of the gentle heros lost to the War in Vietnam:

Slip off that pack. Set it down by the crooked trail. Drop your steel pot alongside. Shed those magazine-ladened bandoliers away from your sweat-soaked shirt. Lay that silent weapon down and step out of the heat. Feel the soothing cool breeze right down to your soul ... and rest forever in the shade of our love, brother.

From your Nam-Band-Of-Brothers

NATIVE AMERICAN PRAYER
It is said a man hasn't died as long as he is remembered. This prayer is a way for families, friends and fellow veterans to remember our fallen brothers and sisters. Do not stand at my grave and weep I am not there, I do not sleep. I am a thousand winds that blow, I am the diamond glints on snow. I am the sunlight on ripened grain, I am the gentle autumn rain. When you awaken in the morning hush, I am the swift, uplifting rush of quiet birds in circled flight, I am the stars that shine at night. Do not stand at my grave and cry, I am not there, I did not die
