I served with Ronnie the entire time he was in C Troop 3rd Sqd, 4th Cav,25th Div. We were in the 1st platoon and on the same track (M113) together for most of 8 or 9 months. We worked very well together. Many years ago I found his mom and Dad and called them. We had a great conversation. Ronnie was in fact the All American kid. A very good solider. He was a well trained mechanic doing the job of a combat scout in a Cavalry Scout Platoon. He did it well. We laughed and cried together as we made our way through our tour. On May 8, 1967 he and I were the last two standing of 13 troopers during an ambush of two or our scout vehicles. Toward the end of October 1967 I was assigned to another M113 and Ronnie stayed on our M113 only to hit a huge mine that very night. As the driver, he was killed instantly. Not a day goes by that I don't think of Ronnie and our time together in 1967. I was and am from KC,Mo and he was from E. St Louis Ill. so we had that in common as well.
