Alton was postumously promoted to the rank of Sergeant from Specialist 4thClass. He was 20 years old when he died. He was in 1st Platoon, A Troop, 3rd Sqd, 4th Cav, 25th Inf Div. I believe his Basic Combat Training (BCT) was at Fort Campbell, Kentucky while his Advanced Individual Training (AIT) was at Fort Knox (Armor), Kentucky.
