Last Known Activity At one point prior to enlisting in the Army, Sgt. Bush had attended Arkansas State University.
On 8 January 1973, SSgt. Elbert Bush was one of three passengers from the Military Assistance Command Army Advisory Group that departed Landing Zone Sally in Quang Tri Province en route to Quang Tri City (in support of Vietnamese Airborne Division in Quang Tri and Thua Thien Provinces).
The aircraft, a UH-1H tail number 69-15619 from the 62nd Aviation Company, 1st Aviation Brigade, was shot down. Unbeknownst at the time, his remains, along with three other men, were buried by local villagers.
SSgt. Bush was listed as MIA until his remains were found (1996), identified (1999), and interred in Parkway Cemetery in Kosciusko, Mississippi .
