Although I've heard so much about you, I never had the pleasure of meeting you. I grew up with a velvet picture of you hanging on the wall, but at the time, who you were to me was unclear. Now, I get it. You are my blood. My beloved Uncle. Someone who is truly missed by the family that knew, and loved him, and yet etched in the hearts of those us who never got the chance. Rest in Peace.

The young dead soldiers do not speak.
Nevertheless, they are heard in the still houses:
who has not heard them?
They have a silence that speaks for them at night
and when the clock counts.
They say: We were young. We have died.
Remember us.
They say: We have done what we could
but until it is finished it is not done.
They say: We have given our lives but until it is finished
no one can know what our lives gave.
They say: Our deaths are not ours: they are yours,
they will mean what you make them.
They say: Whether our lives and our deaths were for
peace and a new hope or for nothing we cannot say,
it is you who must say this.
We leave you our deaths. Give them their meaning.
We were young, they say. We have died; remember us.

1892-1982, American Poet

Though, you are gone, you will, never be forgotten! You and men like you, are the reason, we are free, today! I just wanted, to say THANK YOU, for the sacrifices, that you made! I hold you and those like you, in the highest regard and you deserve, nothing less! I love you, all, you were and always, will be HEROES, to me! I promise never, to take for granted, the freedoms I have, which you paid, the ultimate price, for! Happy Birthday! I, WILL REMEMBER YOU!!! Gratefully yours, Jenn.

Although, I never knew you, out, of respect, for your special day, I have come, to your memorial page and have read, the tributes, written, by those whose lives, you did touch. It is with deep respect, that I make this entry, on your memorial page. I want to 'Thank you,' for your dedication and bravery and for unselfishly giving, the ultimate sacrifice, for your Country. I'm sorry, you didn't get to watch, your daughter grow up, but I'm sure, she thinks, of you and was proud, to have had you, as her Dad. Happy Birthday, Brave Warrior. ~ Rest in Peace ~ You will not, be forgotten. God Bless.

“You are Remembered”
Peace and condolence, to the family and friends. “He which hath no stomach, to this fight, let him depart. But we in it, shall be remembered. We few, we happy few, we band of brothers!! For he today, that sheds his blood with me, shall always be my brother.” Rest in peace brave soldier, you have not been forgotten. (W.Shakespeare) May God Bless you, for your Sacrifice!!!

Missing my Buddy
Melford and I ran the streets of Seminole, Oklahoma together as teenagers. I went to college he to the Army. I later entered the Marine Corps and remained for 30 years. Melford's short tour in Vietnam inspired me to always give the best I could be. Melford Blakely memories were a part of my environment and shaped the man I am today. He will always be remembered.
