USMA Class of 1951, First Lieutenant Wasson was a member of the 65th Infantry Regiment, 3rd Infantry Division. He was seriously wounded by the enemy in North Korea on December 18, 1952 and returned to duty on January 22, 1953. He was Killed in Action while fighting the enemy in North Korea on June 25, 1953.

John is buried at South Lawn Cemetery, Dublin, Wayne County, IN.
