SSgt. U.S. Army, World War II Veteran, Korean Veteran-Mr. Mendoza, Medal of Honor Recipient, for actions taken on 10-4-1944 while serving near Mt. Battaglia, Italy.

He is the son of Mr. & Mrs. Mendoza of Arizona, and the husband of Mrs. M. Mendoza of Arizona.

Mr. Mendoza was working as a Farm Hand when he enlisted with the Army at Fort MacArthur, San Pedro, California on November 21, 1942.

Awards: Medal of Honor, Bronze Star Medal, Purple Heart Medal with One Oak Leaf Cluster, Combat Infantry Badge, European Campaign Medal with Two Battle Stars, American Campaign Medal, Army Good Conduct Medal, WWII Victory Medal, Ruptured Duck Pin, National Defense Service Medal, Korean Service Medal with Five Service Stars, Presidential Unit Citation with One Oak Leaf Cluster, Combat Infantry Badge with Star, United Nations Service Medal, Korean War Service Medal, Korean Presidential Unit Citation, Italian Cross for Merit.

Staff Sergeant Manuel V. Mendoza will receive the Medal of Honor posthumously for his courageous actions while serving as a Platoon Sergeant with Company B, 350th Infantry, 88th Infantry Division during combat operations against an armed enemy on Mt. Battaglia, Italy on October 4, 1944.
