Last Known Activity
PFC James Willard. Page (RA 19145075) joined the Army probably when he turned 18 years of age, or about April 8,1945.  Don't have a record of anything he did until he re-enlisted within three months of his discharge(November 26, 1945) or on 26 February 1946 in Spokane Army Air Force Base in Washington State.  His residence at this enlistment was Walla Walla, Washington.  He enlisted  in the Chemical Warfare Service at this time.  Was assigned to the 25th Reconnaissance Company of the 25th Infantry Division which then did occupation Duty in Japan.  His third enlistment came on 24 June 1949 and he entered combat on 17 July 1950 landing at Pusan.    He was killed while Missing In Action in the Pusan Perimeter near Kogan - Ni, August 11, 1950, less than a month after landing at Pusan with his unit, the 25th Reconnaissance Company, 25th Infantry Division.   His body was recovered and he was buried in Brushy Knob Cemetery, Gainsville, Douglas County, Missouri.  The following quote is from a War Diary for August 1950, 25th Reconnaissance Company, dated 14 November 1950:

At approximately 0830 hours, 11 August 1950, two scout sections of the third platoon while escorting three 2 1/2 ton vehicles of ammunition from Chindong-ni to Pongam-ni for the 5th RCT were attacked by enemy force at vicinity of Kogan-ni with small arms and machineguns.  Enemy was repulsed with help from a platoon of tanks from C Company, 89th Tank Bn.  Six enemy machinguns were destroyed and approximately 40 enemy casualties inflicted.  After encounter with enemy, one man was reported missing in action from the third platoon.

Casualty Report Attachment dated 22 October 1950 for 11 August has Page MIA location of loss Kogan-ni.  His body must have been recovered at a later date.

He was posthumously  promoted to Corporal and this he is listed as on his grave in Brushy Knob Cemetery in Douglas County, Missouri.

He only had 1 year of High School.  His father was Richard Page B: Jan 28, 1894, D: Aug 26, 1931.  His mother was Mabel Page.
