Comments/Citation PFC Wesley E. Devries (ER 57504966) was born in Olsted County, Minnesota in 1930. He died Jamuary 4, 1951 while Missing In Action in South Korea. He had already been involved in 6 months of combat and pulled Occupation duty in Osaka, Japan in 1949 and early 1950. He entered combat on July 17, 1950 when his unit, the 25th Reconnaissance Company of the 25th Infantry Division, landed at Pusan, South Korea and was immediately committed to combat in and around the Pusan Perimeter. That first year there were numerous engagements with North Korean troops and offensive drives into North Korea. There was the defense of Seoul and other engagements. And their was the endurance of a Korean Winter, which was similar to his native Minnesota's winters. In the end, just another young man's experience with hard combat but in this case, he wouldn't live with it the rest of his life. His life was cut short far to early.
