Comments: USMA Class of 1949, First Lieutenant Kempen was a member of Company B, 1st Battalion, 32nd Infantry Regiment, 7th Infantry Division. He was Killed in Action while fighting the enemy in North Korea on November 28, 1950. His remains were recovered on November 3, 2003. He had served in the US Navy prior to his USMA education.
