MSgt. Holman enlisted in the Army in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania on 10 February 1941. His overseas duty was from 12 December 1942 - 9 August 1945. He left active duty on 12 August 1945. At one point, he reenlisted. In 1950 he was serving in Japan with the Occupation Forces. According to the Application for World War II Compensation that he had filed in May 1950, he listed his service in WWII, his wife and son, and that at that time he was serving with F Company, 32nd Infantry Regiment, APO 7 Unit 3, San Francisco, California. (Japan)

He was killed in action in the Kum River Battle Zone, near Kongju, South Korea. (Pyongtaek-Do, Kyonggi-Do, Republic of South Korea)
