Hero, friend, good man ... Posted on 9/30/14 - by Capt. Francis E. Smiley Jay was one of my fellow pilots in the "Spuds" -- 131st Aviation in Phu Bai, I Corps in 1969. Jay, his twin brother Darryl, and I were close friends. We flew the horrific monsoon missions "out of country" -- in the weather, at night, in the OV1 Mohawk.
