I was 13 when I opened the door to 2 soldiers. You were only 19 - but in those short years you touched so many hearts. Mom and Dad never got over your sacrifice.
I cannot tell you how many times I wished to be able to talk with you and laugh with you and cry with you.

I couldn't be prouder of you my dear brother. You saved the life of another soldier as bullets riddled your body.

I've missed you forever Barrie. No matter how short a time we were siblings, I am honored to say Barrie Barnes was my brother.

I will see you soon

Pinehurst Baseball
Posted for: BARRIE VANE BARNES:
We used to play baseball with Barrie at the Pinehurst elementary school sandlot. Chip Pilchard, Keith Henry, Scottie Booth, Chip Strott, Aubrie Howard and others. Barrie was 2 years older, but he treated us younger players fairly. We were proud of him when he joined the US Army. It was a local tragedy when the news came that he had passed away in the service of his country.

Old school buddy
Posted for: BARRIE VANE BARNES:
I was just browsing the virtual wall and went to Barry's name because I knew we lost him in the war. I remember the many nights during the summer of our junior and senior high school years that we cruised around town. Our 40th class reunion will be next year. Sorry you missed all these years. Thanks for your dedication to your country.
