CORPORAL ELWOOD BURTON "WOODY" BLIZZARD ENTERED THE SERVICE ON 6 JANUARY 1943. HE SERVED IN EUROPE WITH BATTERY "C" 762ND FIELD ARTILLERY BATTALION FROM 21 JANUARY 1945 TO 7 OCTOBER 1945. CPL BLIZZARD WAS HONORABLY DISCHARGED ON 21 OCTOBER 1945.


BLIZZARD, Elwood B. Woody age 88 of Dayton, passed away Saturday, June 5, 2010 at Miami Valley Hospital. He was preceded in death by his wife, Merle Blizzard, in 1994. He was also preceded in death by his daughter, Dorothy M. Owens, son in-law Guy E. Owens, two sisters, Virginia and Margaret and a brother, Stelman. He is survived by one son, Thomas E. Blizzard and wife Annie of Dayton, three grandchildren, Pam Singleton and husband Dan, Shelly Tool and husband Garey and Tommy Blizzard and wife. Six great-grandchildren also survive him: Steve Dennis and wife Laura, Jason Dennis and wife Crystal, Ronnie Owens, Corrie Owens, Amanda Tool, Garey Tool Jr., as do six great-great grandchildren: Briana, Sidney, Jacob, Riley, Jill, and Maddie, a brother, Virgil and wife Eloise, sister Martha Pryor, and a host of other family members and friends. Woody was a US Army Veteran of World War II, serving in the European theatre. Following his return he worked in sales and book-keeping for more than 50 years at Grismer Tire Co. His family wishes to express their gratitude to Johnny Marshall and the rest of Woodys "Grismer family". Funeral services will be held at the TOBIAS FUNERAL HOME- BELMONT Chapel, 648 Watervliet Ave. at Fauver on Thursday, June 10, 2010 at 1:30 PM with Pastor Howard Briggs officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home from 11:30 AM until the time of the service Thursday. Interment will be in Miami Valley Memory Gardens following the funeral.
